Festive entry of three-masted schooner ‘Oosterschelde’ in Rotterdam after world voyage In 2025

In 2025, the historic Dutch three-masted sailing schooner Oosterschelde returned to her home port of Rotterdam. She undertook an impressive world voyage that lasted two years.

During that time, over 47,000 nautical miles were covered. The ship departed in August 2023 for the Darwin200 Global Voyage, an international nature expedition aimed at young people who are taught and learn to sail on board. This journey is inspired by Charles Darwin’s legendary voyage around the world aboard the ship HMS Beagle. The three-masted schooner Oosterschelde is one of the last remaining historic sailing vessels of her kind in the Netherlands. Between 1988 and 1992, the ship was restored and entered service as a sailing passenger and training ship. The Oosterschelde was recognised as a sailing monument of great cultural- historical value.
